Next Steps
Developing a personal relationship with Jesus after making a commitment involves intentional habits that deepen faith, understanding, and connection. Here are key habits, grounded in the Bible.
- Prayer
Engage in regular, honest conversation with God. Prayer can be structured (e.g., the Lord’s Prayer) or spontaneous, expressing gratitude, seeking guidance, or sharing struggles. Aim for daily moments of prayer to build intimacy with Jesus. Apps like YouVersion can guide this habit.
- Scripture Reading and Meditation
Read the Bible to understand Jesus’ life, teachings, and character. Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John) for a direct encounter with His story. Use a reading plans from apps like YouVersion. Dedicate a specific time regularly to spend time with God. Start small with 5-10 minutes and increase as you feel led.
- Worship and Gratitude
Participate in personal and communal worship to express love for Jesus. This can include singing, journaling gratitude, or attending MOVE Faith Workouts on Sundays.
- Service and Obedience
Follow Jesus’ example by serving others and living out His teachings. Acts of kindness, volunteering, or sharing your faith reflect His love. Obeying His commands (e.g., loving others, forgiving) deepens your alignment with His will.
- Holy Spirit Guidance
Invite the Holy Spirit to lead you daily. Be attentive to promptings in your heart, decisions, or circumstances. Ask the Holy Spirit to not only lead you, but encourage you, embolden you, empower you to do what God has asked of you.
